ATELIER PIRAAT are men whose love of design is met by a talent for craft that doesn’t discriminate in its use of materials — so long as those are honest, aesthetically pleasing and of an indisputable quality. Pieter Van Snick and Raf Vaerewyck combine their savoir-faire in objects that are pure by design yet refined, detailed and not quite as serious as they look.

The duo’s four-year tenure will now be crowned with the release of PIRAAT, a furniture collection centered around seemingly flat, two-dimensional shapes cut out of perforated stainless steel. Almost transparant in their simplicity, each item folds along lines that are both stern and playful, boasting a refreshing lack in pretense while excelling in covering the basics.
